Around here, most real trees come from tree farms. So the net results is zero (as they are always planting new trees to replace those harvested).

If you buy a plastic tree, it becomes better than chopping down a real tree that could've been producing oxygen after about 6 years (don't know exact numbers though, so please give me a break)

Cutting trees is not bad. First, trees are not main producer of O2 because they also use it. Even Old trees have O2 defisit and NEED to be CUT down. This is the so called "selective logging" and has been used for decades. We should be aware of plastic waste in the ocean since its the main producer of clouds (H2O) and O2 (from phitoplankton ecosystem)
